The Little Bird has a magazine called Libre. It’s an electronic magazine about issues surrounding mental health. Little Bird is diagnosed with Bipolar disorder. I’m diagnosed with persistent chronic depression, also known as Persistent Depressive Disorder. Both of us are suicide risks, though I’m a considerably greater risk. Both of us are candidates for electroconvulsive therapy (shock therapy) but haven’t needed it yet.
I would never say anything to embarrass the Little Bird. I’d lose a limb first. These things are in her books. She’s inspired me to be a hell of a lot more honest about my experience in this world. She’s beautiful and tiny and very, very brave.
It’s hard when you’re young and single and fucking brilliant, and it’s hard to keep your confidence, so she shut down the magazine for a while resolved to failure, but it’s back because my girl is fuckng amazing.
Cierra Gabrielle Syndor is a painter, like me, but considerably better than me. She writes about child abuse, issues of confidence, sense of self, eating disorders, and dinosaurs.

It’s hard for my girl to see how amazing she is. It’s the easiest thing in the world for me.
