A simple cheek swab genetic test would show that the people trying to cross the border into this country (a political designation) are almost entirely native to this continent (a geologic designation)
As a genetic Scottish Highlander, their claim to this land supersedes mine by almost thirty thousand years. I’m not comfortable with the history that ended with my fathers in this country. I’m not comfortable with doing the same to other people.
Over Thanksgiving, the current president of Mexico (a political designation), an Ashkenazi Jew, the child of Lithuanian parents, and the president-elect of the United States (a political designation,) the child of German Immigrants, have made a deal that will "end" "Illegal" immigration across our border.
They talk about betrayals of this magnitude in the bible. I know I'm not winning any friends or fans by saying this. One of the reasons people want to control what goes into your children’s history books is that learning history as it was can have quite a sting.
Unlike Andrew Jackson, who he idolizes, Donald Trump isn't a strongman president. He's a grifter who was so fun of being made fun of in New York that he began taking jobs on Saturday Night Live in hopes that people would start to believe they were laughing with him and not at him. They were, in fact, laughing at him. Many of them still do, but millions fell victim to the grift, as is pretty common in human nature.
In legends, a slave stood behind Caesar as he rode his chariot through Rome, holding a laurel wreath above his head to symbolize his office but whispering "memento mori" in his ear to remind him that he was but a man. Donald Trump isn't Caesar, though. He's not a strongman, a general, or a leader. He's the Wizard of Oz, a grifter who rose to power by convincing people he was something he wasn't.
I'd like to say it's not their fault for believing him, but it is. We've all seen the movie.
I can't say that this will be worse than the Indian Removal Act or the Trail of Tears that happened during the time of Andrew Jackson, but then I can't actually see the future. I can see justice and injustice pretty plainly though, even when it paints my own culture in the wrong.
Donald Trump is saying he will "relocate" twenty million people. Adolph Hitler "relocated" eleven million people. Six million of them were Ashkenazi Jews. Almost ten thousand people died in the trail of tears. In terms of just numbers, if Donald Trump enacts his plan, he could be remembered as one of the great villains of history.
As an American, that's a rather unpleasant fate. We'd have to do an awful lot of good to make up for that stain.
