Why I like Taylor More

Normally, I wouldn’t add my two cents in an argument between two more-than-middle-aged-men and a thirty-four-year-old woman, but both Musk and Trump have been saying pretty disparaging things about Taylor, and even though I’m not a huge fan of her music, two on one isn’t fair.

To begin her career, Swift’s father paid for music, dance, and music writing lessons. At thirteen, Swift sold her first song. At fifteen, her father invested $120,000 in her fledgling music company for a one-third stake. Trump and Musk both received over $100 million from their parents to start their companies, all of which Trump lost in his first bankruptcy.

Swift has never taken credit for anyone else’s work. Musk has taken credit for the work of others at Paypal, Tesla, and Space X.

Swift has never cheated union workers out of their pay. Trump has been doing it his entire career.

Swift never made fun of disabled people (or any people) in a political rally.

Swift never became estranged from her own child (or anyone else) because of their sexuality.

Swift never talks about white identity, even though I’m pretty sure she’s considerably more Aryan than Musk or Trump.

Swift has earned over a billion dollars without a single government contract.

Millions of young people idolize Swift for being herself. Trump and Musk are idolized by over-the-hill white guys who are angry that the world moved on without them and love Trump and Musk when they say incredibly racist and sexist things without risk of getting fired.

Put all three in a bodysuit, and you decide.

In 2020, Donald Trump gave zero dollars in charitable donations. Elon Musk’s charitable foundation didn’t give away enough money to qualify for any tax breaks. Taylor Swift, the least rich of the three, gave away nearly sixty million dollars out of pre-eras tour earnings in 2020. To be fair, Elton John has given away more money than Taylor Swift, but he’s been at it longer.

Taylor Swift works endlessly to help her followers improve their self-worth and self-image, including their sexuality and body image. Trump and Musk make old white men feel better about being racist.

Swift never bought Twitter because she was mad at liberals for making her child gay.

Swift has never had hair implants.

Swift has never been arrested or convicted or indicted.

All three claim to be Christian, but Swift acts like it.

In the end, nice matters more than money
